On 26 and 27 July 2018, in collaboration with the International Canoe Federation, the Anti-Doping Centre delivered training to competitors during the World Junior Canoe-Kayak Championships in Plovdiv. The outreach programme took the form of an interactive session for participants, including an online questionnaire that had been translated into several languages in advance. At the stand during the training session for the young athletes, promotional materials from the SAA were distributed regarding the risks of doping in sport, the doping control procedure and athletes’ rights, the list of prohibited substances and methods, and the conditions for issuing a Therapeutic Use Exemption. All participants received gifts bearing the logos of the International Canoe Federation and the Anti-Doping Centre. The training session was attended by 74 competitors from 23 countries, with Bulgaria having the largest number of representatives, followed by Ukraine. The grand prize, a paddle, was won by a competitor from Cyprus.
